5 Marketing Skills To Master In 2022

Whether you’re a marketing veteran or newbie, when working in the digital space, it is imperative to continue learning and expanding your skillset. As trends come and go, it is our job to keep up with everything circulating the internet. Though we don’t know what 2022 will bring, we feel that mastering these skills will prove to be effective. Even if you feel confident in these skills, we could all use a refresher from time to time!

TikTok Advertising

In case you missed it, TikTok was reported to be the #1 most visited website in 2021, bumping Google down to second place for the first time in years. Though Facebook and Google have been the top ad platforms for years, TikTok is climbing its way up the charts. In 2022, TikTok should become a staple in your marketing strategies, particularly for younger demographics.

The best way to master TikTok is by spending some time scrolling through the app in order to keep up with the ever-changing trends. Trust us, this won’t be difficult– we’re all guilty of getting sucked into a TikTok vortex from time to time. The ads that perform best on TikTok are humorous, use trending sounds, and look simple and user-generated. There’s no need for professional videography!

Data Analysis In the iOS 14-15 Era

As we all know, iOS 14.5 and 15 have limited our tracking abilities. It is nearly impossible to get an accurate report on ROAS, Attribution, and tons of other key measurements through Facebook, Google, and Email nowadays. If you work for an agency, I’m sure you’ve gotten accustomed to explaining this to clients in reports and on calls. Though there’s no perfect approach to data analysis and reporting for 2022, our strategy has been to pull information from as many sources as possible. For an ecommerce client, we typically synthesize the insights from Shopify, Google Analytics, and each individual marketing platform before drawing any conclusions.

Conversion Copywriting

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut of copying and pasting rather than refreshing your ad copy from time to time. Though your brand voice may not be changing in 2022, your brand strategy should. Throughout 2021, casual, user-generated ads took over. Looking forward, it’s more important than ever to both think and write like your customers. This LinkedIn Learning course on Conversion Copywriting is a great resource!

Amazon Advertising

When searching for a product online, consumers often turn to Amazon. In fact, 74% of Amazon users utilize the platform to discover new brands and products. As a result, Amazon is the perfect platform for creating brand awareness and acquiring new customers. Plus, Amazon provides thorough and accurate reports, which is hard to come by nowadays.

Video Marketing

We mentioned TikTok before, but video marketing is effective on other social media platforms as well. According to this Hubspot study, video ads on Facebook are likely to outperform image-based ads. This year, we recommend testing video on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat.
